I'm an ex-mutual fund accountant who left the cubicle world to be a stay-at-home dad to my beautiful little girl, Avery, who entered our life on 11/15/13 and handsome little boy, Wes, who joined our family on 11/19/17. Also happily married to my wife, Kelley, as of 8/17/07. Sorry ladies... :) Fitness and nutrition is of the utmost importance in our family and we strive to reflect this in our daily life. I always prepare our meals at home and only go out if it's a special occasion, and even then I tend to not get much. Food should be fun and a joy to eat, not something quickly consumed from a fast food chain or scarf down before the next meeting. I have come from strictly logging high miles to train for the next marathon to keeping exercise varied and focusing more on strength. I still enjoy going for a run when I can, but nothing crazy, and I prefer hill sprints while pushing my daughter, Avery in the stroller. She loves it and I get a great workout! I want to show the world how to appreciate their body and feed it real, wholesome food while moving more throughout the day. In doing so, everyone would be healthier, happier, and we'd all live in a better place as a result. I blog mainly about my life as a stay-at-home dad and frequently include reviews, participate in campaigns, and share my thoughts on fitness and nutrition. If you ever have any questions or thoughts to share, please reach out as I'm always open to listening or helping others however possible. That is, when I have free time since Avery is and my wife are the number one priorities!

How Runners Can Better Care For Their Feet

If you want to keep healthy, then you will be fully aware that it’s important to exercise. Of course, it’s not always easy to get as much as you should, but there are nonetheless a number of ways you can do this more effectively. One of the simplest and easiest is to just go running on a regular basis. But if you are going to do that, you will need to take care of your body, and in particular your feet. There are a few things you should bear in mind on that front, which we are going to look into right now.

Listen To Pain

Your running shouldn’t ever cause you actual pain, only discomfort. So if you notice that you are experiencing pain in your feet while running, you should really make sure to listen to that pain rather than ignore it. In other words, you should stop running as soon as possible and attend to the issue. It might be that you have something as simple as an ingrown toenail – and if so, the ingrown toenails treatment you need is simple enough – or you might have a sprained ankle or something. In any case, don’t ignore it.

Warm-Up & Cool Down

You need to make sure you are warming up and cooling down before and after every workout. That is a really vital thing to do, and it’s the kind of thing you notice the difference once you stop doing it. If you are keen to take good care of your feet, this is going to be absolutely essential. All you need to do is stretch and get the body to a good level of limber, and then you can run with ease and without fear of harming yourself, including your feet most importantly of all.

Use Proper Footwear

Another thing you can do which will make a huge difference is to make sure that you use the proper footwear that you need. This is going to save your feet more than you might think, so it’s one of those things that are really worth trying to remember. This means using trainers or runners, some kind of footwear that is going to protect your feet and ensure that you are less likely to damage them in any way. If you do that, you are going to be in a much better place with regard to your feet when you run.

Allow Space
Speaking of shoes, you should generally follow the rule of thumb of always going half a size above what you think you need, because that is going to mean that you are much more likely to remain comfortable and less likely to damage your feet in any way. This is a really good rule that is worth remembering, and you’ll be amazed at what a difference it can truly make if you do this. So that is something that you might want to think about if you are keen to care for your feet more effectively while running.

Why should you buy cookies online?

The online food market has grown exponentially in the past few years as people prefer to sit back at their homes and have food at their doorstep without moving. One of the famous foods people like is cookies; they are delicious but sometimes can be hard to find. Most stores have a limited selection, and they can take a lot of time to shop. That’s why most people order cookies online, as it’s easier, faster, and more convenient. Here are some reasons why you should do the same:

  1. Save Time

You don’t have to spend time driving back and forth between the store when you buy cookies online. You can do all of your grocery shopping from the comfort of your own home or office. No more wasting time in traffic jams and waiting in lines at the supermarket— shop from wherever you are!

  1. Better Selection

There are many online sellers in the market, so you have many options to choose from regarding sellers and types of cookies. They come in a variety of flavours and combinations, such as grains, fruits, nuts, and chocolate, which makes them a popular choice for sweet treats. You may also want to try some of the cookies that come from other countries or regions. For example, if you like chocolate chip cookies but have never had an oatmeal raisin cookie before, why not give it a shot? The internet allows you to explore exotic foods without ever leaving home.

  1. No Salespeople

You may purchase from the convenience of your own home or your phone if you’re on the go! You don’t have to battle crowds or compete for parking to satisfy your cookie craving. You won’t have to spend hours waiting in line at the grocery store anymore; no more crowds of shoppers and pushy salespeople.

  1. Convenient Gifting Options

One of the best reasons to buy cookies online is that you can send them as a gift. It can be difficult to find the perfect present for people who are far away, but it’s always nice to be able to give something away or have someone else enjoy something you like. When you buy cookies online, you have more options than just handing over an apple pie and saying, “Happy Birthday.” You can order an assortment of different flavours and choose from several different packaging options.

  1. Have Cookies Delivered To Your Door

All it takes is a few clicks; someone else will do all the work (and bring them right where they need to go). The online ordering system has become so advanced that it’s now possible to order things like cookies online and have them arrive at home or work in just a few days—just in time for dessert.

Conclusion

Online shopping has made everything very convenient and easy for human beings. People who love food, particularly cookies and desserts, are happier to use online ordering systems. As dessert lovers prefer to order cookies online, more online vendors are entering the market. Thus you should know how to order the right cookies online.

How to Help Your Kids Achieve Strong, Healthy Teeth and Gums

When it comes to oral health, there’s no substitute for good habits. Kids need proper dental hygiene and regular check-ups to ensure their teeth and gums stay healthy. Parents play a significant role in helping their children achieve strong and healthy teeth and gums, especially when they are young. If parents take the right steps early on, they can set their kids up for a lifetime of healthier smiles. Here’s how:

Brush and Floss:

Making brushing and flossing part of your child’s daily routine can help them establish good dental habits that will last them a lifetime. Therefore, it’s important to teach your children the importance of keeping their mouths clean every day by brushing twice a day and flossing once a day.

Make sure that you buy age-appropriate toothpaste and brushes for your kids, as they are specially formulated to help protect their growing teeth. Showing them how to brush properly will also be beneficial: have them start on the outside of each tooth, then use a circular motion around the inside.

Eat Healthily:

A healthy diet is essential for strong teeth and gums. Limiting sugary snacks and drinks will help your child avoid cavities and other dental issues. Instead, please encourage them to eat more crunchy fruits and vegetables, which can act as natural toothbrushes in the mouth, scraping away plaque and bacteria. An apple, for example, can help stimulate saliva production and cleanse the mouth of harmful bacteria.

Visit the Dentist:

Routine trips to the dentist are an essential part of keeping oral health in check. While it’s normal for children to feel anxious about visiting the dentist, it’s important you take them to the dentist twice a year for regular cleanings. Regular visits will help keep their teeth and gums in top condition and also give the dentist an opportunity to spot any potential issues early on.

Use Fluoride:

Fluoride is a mineral that is essential for strong teeth and gums. Fluoride needs to be ingested daily in order to keep teeth healthy and prevent cavities. Fluoride also helps strengthen your children’s tooth enamel, making it more resistant to decay. You can ensure that your kids are getting enough fluoride by giving them water from the tap or using fluoride-containing toothpaste and mouthwash when brushing their teeth.

Check for Signs of Gum Disease:

Gum disease is a serious condition that can cause pain and discomfort, as well as tooth loss. As part of your child’s regular check-ups with the dentist, you should ask them to screen for signs of gum disease. If caught early on, it can be treated effectively with antibiotics and other treatments. Symptoms include bad breath, red or swollen gums, bleeding when brushing or flossing, receding gums, and loose teeth.

Taking these steps will help ensure your child’s teeth and gums stay healthy from early on. As a parent, it’s essential to lead by example and develop good dental habits yourselves. By setting a good example, your children will learn the importance of looking after their teeth—setting them up for healthier smiles in the future.
