Acting and Reading “The Bear Snores On”

The Bear Snores On” is one of our favorite books to read right now. Avery loves reading it at bedtime, nap time, and any time really. One day I acted out the story as Going Mom read aloud and Avery got a kick out of it.

This video doesn’t do the original act justice since she is concerned about looking at herself on camera, but at least I look cool trying to show off my acting skills, or lack thereof.

I’ll just go ahead and apologize for having to watch me in full corny dad mode in the background. Hopefully I didn’t turn you off from the book, it truly is fun to read with your kids. Acting is optional.

We have family visiting from Pennsylvania and today we’re all going to a local brewery, Revolver, about an hour from our house. We’ve had the beer before and it’s great, but never visited the brewery, which I imagine is even better!

With my aunt, uncle, and grandma down to spend time for a little early celebration for my Mom’s 60th birthday, I’m sure we’ll all have a blast. I’ll be sure to fill all readers in on our adventures in a future post, but for now it’s less online time and more family time!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Have you read The Bear Snores On?

What about another “Bear” series book like “The Bear Wants More” from Karma Wilson?

Flying High in the Backyard: Avery & Daddy Ep. 6

We took the Vlog outside in our backyard (after picking up the dog poo) to show off our flying skills. Pilot Dad (that’s me) and my oddly quiet Co-Pilot, Avery, safely defy gravity (kinda) and even add a few spin moves.

The day was hot, but with the clouds and a light breeze, it was manageable. Plus, our flight lessons made going out in the heat well worth it. I ended up throwing her a little higher than anticipated, but she didn’t seem to mind, and no one was hurt.

When the camera is out, Avery tends to turn silent, as you can tell, but that blue-eyed grin says it all loud and clear; “I’m happy!” Or she’s already good at throwing me a pity parade. If so, I’ll happily take it!

Especially after this past Saturday morning. Kelley had just changed and nursed her and they were coming into the kitchen to have the peanut butter blueberry oatmeal breakfast I always make on the weekends. Avery seemed in a good mood at first, but then I crouched down and asked for a hug only to have her turn away crying.

I tried several times to get a hug or just talk to her and the girl simply wanted nothing to do with me! Talk about breaking a dad’s heart, geez! She eventually came to her senses and gave me a hug, but I haven’t felt so rejected since the high school dating scene. Hmm, maybe she really didn’t like me throwing her so high……or spinning…

Does or did your kid love being thrown in the air?

How do you deal with rejection when you’re the odd parent out that day/week/month/always?

NuttZo Breakfast Talk: Avery & Daddy Ep. 5

This episode of the Avery & Daddy Video Blog has been brought to you by NuttZo. They did not know I made the video and never asked me to, so therefore I was not compensated in any way. That said, I am a NuttZo Ambassador and love everything that goes in the tasty nut and seed butter as well as what doesn’t.

I just felt like going over the parts of the face that Avery is currently pointing out. As you’ll see in the video, she “nose” (#DadPun) not only her own face, but other faces too. She’ll look clear across the room to point out my pointy nose. She’s so sweet.

Since it happened to be around breakfast time, and she must eat or, well…..it happens, I figured we’d share her favorite combo of NuttZo with cinnamon and banana.. I guess we all get hangry, and when there’s NuttZo involved, there’s no waiting.

As always, hope you enjoyed our Vlog and Avery’s mad facial recognition skills, not to mention her ability to make Nuttzo and banana disappear.

Have a wonderful Friday and even better weekend!

What facial features did your kids start noticing first?

Do you love peanut butter (NuttZo is better) and banana?

Ever have a peanut butter, banana, and honey sandwich? Bliss!
