My Top Picks for a Healthy Lifestyle

Hi there! This will be quick. Just wanted to let you know I have a new page (see above) called My Healthy Food, Cooking, and Fitness Store where I listed my favorite foods, kitchen gadgets, and fitness equipment. If you want to start or maintain a healthy lifestyle, check it out, I’ll be adding more soon.

It’s all through Amazon where you can buy my favorites for your home and start enjoying healthy, delicious food that you can easily cook. Add in fitness equipment and you’re off to a new, healthier and happier you!

If you’re not sure what to do with some of the food, check out my other new page with Healthy Recipes your whole family will enjoy. Yes, even those picky toddlers…..

One for me, none for you, dad.
One for me, none for you, dad.

See? You’ll have them taking healthy food you cooked right out of your hands!

Soon, I’ll create a post where I share actual products I use the most along with ideas on how to get started with them. For now, please check out my list of favorites for a healthy lifestyle and let me know what you think.

What is the biggest thing you want to change most? Being more active, better nutrition, both, or something else?

Our GoGo Squeez Applesauce Skeptic

I used to laugh at those little portable pouches of squeezable fruit puree and never understood the point of having them. Then we received a GoGo Squeez Applesauce pouch as a party favor for our neighbors’ 1 year old son’s birthday party.

Packaged food is highly scrutinized before I allow it in our home. IF it’s a gift and if it doesn’t pass, I politely (sometimes not so polite) decline. But the pouch gave me no reason to reject as it’s certified organic and only has apples and apple juice concentrate as ingredients. I could’ve really picked at it since it’s basically a lot of sugar with little fiber like you’d get from eating a whole apple, but I’m trying to pick my battles here.

Plus, the girl’s crazy and runs rampant every day, she needs the carbs! That said, I opted to give Avery the pouch to see how she liked it. Here’s what I think went on in her head as I offered this strange, non-bottle for her to eat…..or is it drink? Slurp? Ahhh, whatever!

Okay, I see he’s holding something and it’s getting closer to my face, but I’m not sure what to do about it. Is it a bottle? Do I eat the whole thing?

Looks like I’m supposed to get whatever it is from that white spout. Seriously wish I knew more about what Dad puts in my face. And why does he always give me green things?!

DSC_4801

Well, here goes nothing, no turning back now.

DSC_4802

Weird. It’s definitely NOT milk or liquid that I’ve ever tried! But, I think I like it.

This feels very strange in my mouth, like someone already chewed my food for me. More!!

DSC_4807

Good, he got my message through telepathy. More pre-chewed goodness coming my way!

DSC_4808

Mmmmm, if only I knew how to hold things for myself. Meh, Dad is my servant and I’ll make sure to “milk” it as long as possible.

I love the last photo with her beautiful blue eyes! I wouldn’t say I’d go out of my way to buy more of these, but it is nice to know she’s accepting of them. Just in case we’re out and about and I forgot to bring my own homemade goodness along.

Do you give your kids squeeze pouch foods or have you before?

Any favorite flavors/brands?

I’ve seen the reusable pouches where you make your own puree, maybe I’ll try that sometime.

I’m a 2015 NuttZo Ambassador!

That’s right, NuttZo has given me the privilege of joining their team of ambassadors for 2015! You will now see this badge proudly displayed to the right of my blog….

NuttZo, ambassador, nut butter

Go ahead, click on the badge above or to the right to go directly to their site to learn about and purchase your own NuttZo. And, since you’re here reading this, I’d like to say thank you and share a discount code to use on their site. Just click here to visit their product page and enter code liley15 to save 15% off your entire order!

With many healthy certifications under their belt lid and being the most delicious, empowering nut and seed spread every, you will find it hard to resist putting the lid back on. Trust me, Avery and I have been enjoying the Crunchy Power Fuel for a while now, and the choice is clear…

Yep, Avery knows to go for the NuttZo every time! Of course, I still need to work on her not just grabbing and getting it all over her hands…….then cabinets, then floor, then me, then….you get the idea. Also need to work on her jar opening skills, or lack thereof.

I am forever grateful to NuttZo for accepting me into their team of awesome ambassadors who are mostly top notch athletes. I actually first heard about NuttZo from one of their long-time ambassadors, Kristen Stehly, who blogs over at STUFT mama. As a fitness instructor and personal trainer, mom of twin toddler boys, and avid marathon runner, she never has a dull moment and I’ve enjoyed reading her posts for years.

NuttZo is obviously fueling their high-octane athletes quite well, but now it’s time to see how it keeps an active at-home dad (that’s me) and his toddler daughter (that’s Avery) constantly “going” and growing. I may not be a competing athlete, but I train for strength and endurance every day with Avery usually alongside of me.

I can’t wait to share NuttZo recipes, pictures, and thoughts with you here and on my other pages. If you have any suggestions on what recipe I should try to come up with first, please leave me a comment and I’ll do my best.

Right now, I’m thinking an easy homemade Chocolate NuttZo “Jello” and bread is in our future. A healthy organic nut and seed butter jello? You betcha!

By the way, it’s National Peanut Butter Day (isn’t it every day?), so why not go above and beyond with NuttZo’s Nut and Seed butter? Remember, use code liley15 to enjoy 15% off your entire order. Imagine, Dark Chocolate NuttZo and your significant other having a wonderful Valentine’s Day in the comfort of your home and not worrying about some elaborate meal when it should be more about time together.

Have you tried NuttZo before?

If so, which one? I’m going to try their 70% Dark Chocolate One very soon…MMMMM!
