Get More Exercise Into Your Day With These Tips

When someone suggests working out, what goes through your head? Are you excited, or does it elicit an exaggerated eye roll? If the answer is the second option, chances are you already know how important it is to get exercise into your day. But you try to avoid working out and going to the gym for whatever reason(s) you can think of.

That is understandable. The gym isn’t for everyone. Neither are group classes or fad workout equipment from the commercials or shopping channels. Maybe you simply don’t like to work out. Perhaps you are a working mother who simply does not have the time or the motivation to find the time to engage in an activity you do not particularly take pleasure in.

The fact of the matter is that our bodies require physical activity. In any case, it will occur. Working out gives your body energy, it helps you fit and healthy alongside a varied and balanced diet. In addition to this, it causes the release of endorphins, which are essential feel-good chemicals that boost your mood. It is one of the main reasons more, and more people are being advised to work out to help combat low moods and to help those who suffer from depression.

Can you deceive your mind into thinking that you have exercised while still providing your body with the benefits of a vigorous workout?

Walking

There are various ways you can add walking to your day. One of the most obvious and straightforward recommendations is to use the stairs rather than the elevator. Getting off the train or bus one or two stops before you usually do and walking the extra distance. Or even forgoing public transportation or driving and opting instead to explore the world on foot.

Swimming

Swimming is ideal for those who want a more thorough all body workout that is easier on the joints. It is also a great family activity so not only are you all getting a workout and learning valuable life skills, but swimming is perfect for tiring kids out so timing your swim before bedtime or nap time can be an added boost to your bedtime routine.

Sports

How about trying out for amateur sports teams in your favourite sport. There are many different teams across all of America’s favourite sports that welcome beginners and more experienced players. Whatever your preferred game, joining a team will not only help you give your body a workout and build up strength and stamina, but it will also provide you with a wider social circle and allow you to enjoy your sport with those who feel the same way.

Bike rides
Be it taking up mountain biking, BMX biking at a local skate park or even teaching your kids how to ride a bike to go on family bike rides. Riding a bike can not only help you to become fitter physically, but it can help you to save money on commutes if you live close enough to your place of work to ride. It is important to wear the correct safety gear and follow the rules of the road to avoid having to contact a Bicycle Accident Lawyer.  Better for the environment, better for your health and better for your bank balance, taking up bike riding can have so many benefits besides being a way to get fit.

Make a Photo Album or Scrapbook

This is a great way to show your partner how much you care about them and the memories you have shared together. Put together a collection of photos from when you first met, your wedding day, and any other special moments. Write down little notes about each photo to make it extra personal. If you’re not the crafty type, there are plenty of websites that will do all the work for you. Just upload your photos and they will take care of the rest! Your partner will love being able to look back on all the happy times you’ve shared together. Bonus points if you can find a way to incorporate some of their favorite things into the album or scrapbook!

Give Them a Gift That is Meaningful to You

Your partner will appreciate a gift that has meaning to you, even if it isn’t something they would have picked out for themselves. It could be something as simple as a book that reminds you of them or a piece of jewelry with significance to your relationship. If you’re stuck on what to give, think about things that your partner loves and try to find a way to incorporate them into the gift. For example, if they love nature, you could get them a plant or some flowers. If they love animals, you could adopt a pet in their name. The possibilities are endless! Just put some thought into it and we’re sure they’ll love whatever you come up with.

Plan a Special Date Night

Sometimes the best way to show your partner how much you care is to spend some quality time together. Plan a special date night that includes all of their favorite things. Make reservations at their favorite restaurant, buy tickets to see their favorite band, or plan a weekend getaway at a place they’ve always wanted to visit. Whatever you do, make sure it is something that they will really enjoy and appreciate. It’s the thought that counts! Don’t forget to add a personal touch by including a handwritten note or small gift. They’ll be sure to remember this anniversary for years to come.

Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend

This may be a cliché, but it’s true! Most women love receiving diamonds on special occasions. If you are looking to really wow your partner this year, consider giving them a piece of diamond jewelry. It could be something as simple as a pair of earrings or a necklace. Or, if you want to go all out, you could get them a 1 carat diamond ring. Just make sure to do your research beforehand so you know what kind of diamond jewelry they would like. You don’t want to end up getting them something that they’re not going to wear!

We hope you found these ideas helpful and that they give you some inspiration for your own anniversary present. Remember, it’s the thought that counts! So as long as you put some thought into it, we’re sure your partner will love whatever you give them.

6 Steps For Recovering From The Worse Sunburn Of Your Life

Most people these days understand the dangers of excessive sun exposure. Spending too much time in direct sunlight can cause redness and increase the risk of cancer.

However, sometimes you can make a mistake. For instance, you might spend an entire day on a pleasure cruise, soaking up the sun, forgetting to put on your sunscreen in the morning.

Regular sunburn is bad enough. But if it is serious, it can be excruciatingly painful, too, to the point where you’re unable to sleep. Your skin turns bright pink and then starts to blister and peel. It’s a nightmare.

Fortunately, there are some home remedies that you can use to reduce pain and return your skin to a healthy state rapidly. Here’s what you need to know:

Don’t Touch Blisters

Blisters look nasty but they are part of your body’s healing process. They protect your skin from further damage while new tissue forms underneath.

If a blister pops, trim back the surrounding dead skin and keep the area clean. If you have antibiotic ointment, apply it to prevent an infection from developing.

Apply A Soothing Cream

Serious sunburn is itchy and extremely painful. Therefore, it’s a good idea to apply hydrocortisone cream. Medicated creams like these offer soothing action designed to reduce pain.

Place A Wet Towel Over Your Eyes

Sunburned eyes, believe it or not, are surprisingly common. The tissues that make up the eye are just as prone to damage as the skin.

If your eyes get sunburned, you’ll know about it. They’ll feel extremely itchy and they may turn slightly yellow.

To treat sunburned eyes, slightly wet a towel with cool water and then place it over your eyes. Don’t wear contact lenses until your symptoms subside.

Cool The Skin Down

Simply cooling the skin a little can have an anti-inflammatory effect. Reducing the temperature cuts redness and swelling. Again, wet a towel and then place it over the sunburned area.

If you have substantial sunburn over your entire body, then you might want to take a cool bath. Try adding a couple of ounces of baking soda to the water and mix it in. Then soak for around fifteen minutes, several times per day. Soaking in cold water will reduce inflammation.

Don’t Go Back Out In The Sun

Sunburn is actually your body’s attempt to heal itself after UV exposure. Therefore, it is critical to avoid further damage. If you go back out in the sun, you will make the damage worse and potentially increase the length of time it takes for your skin to recover.

If you need to go outside for any reason, make sure that you cover yourself up completely. Take a hat or umbrella with you to shield yourself from direct sunlight, and wear long-sleeved clothing.

Use A Natural Moisturiser

Lastly, as your skin heals, it will begin to dry out and peel. If this happens, use a natural moisturizer. Giving the skin extra moisture will make it feel more comfortable and reduce itching.
