The Chabee Outfitters Diaper Bag: The Toughest Bag Around

The diaper bag as we know it has forever changed with the rise of involved and stay-at-home dads. Since most of us dads don’t want bags designed for moms with compartments for yoga pants or other feminine items, we appreciate having bags made just for us. Bonus points when they’re made by us too!

That’s exactly what stay-at-home dad Jesse Andrist set out to do when he created Chabee Outfitters. As an involved dad to three, Jesse knows the important role of being “dad” and he wanted to reflect that in Chabee. With fathers all around seeing a product made just for them, it is Jesse’s hope that this will help solidify their significance.

With the good looks and rugged nature of his messenger-style bag, I’d say he’s doing just that. When I received the bag, I could tell the heavy duty materials, all hand-crafted in the USA, would easily last long enough through several kids, and if something needed a little fixing, lucky for you, Chabee offers Free Repairs for Life!

With that kind of guarantee, a dad could give the same bag to his kid when he’s all grown up with kids of his own. Even if you have a daughter, I’m sure they’ll fully appreciate the look and style. Avery has already been practicing how she’ll tote it around.

To look at it, you’d never know it’s a diaper bag, which means it won’t end up in the attic with the other baby items that have no more use. The changing pad is conveniently attached and folds out from the inside.

This is helpful to me since other bags I’ve used that have a removeable pad means keeping track on one more thing and always fighting to cram it back when as I rush to get everything packed. And hey, a comfy leather pad will practically have your kids happy to climb on for a change.

As long as they’re not 14 and still climbing on, this is a very good thing!

There are not many storage compartments compared to most diaper bags, but that’s what I like, it’s simple. The pockets are plenty deep and provide plenty of space for the average guy (yes, even ladies too!) to fit what he and his kids need.

I won’t lie, when carrying the Chabee Diaper Bag around, I felt a sense of pride and kept wanting to have another dad ask about it just so I could show it off. But the “Made in USA” leather badge basically shows it off for me.

DSC_1008While there are many diaper bags out there that do their job and do it well, Chabee offers one you can use for years after your little one is not so little anymore. It will easily fit books, laptops, tools, or many other non-diaper items, and will hold up to the job with its tough construction.

Since I only have one sweet little girl to carry stuff around for, this bag is perfect for the two of us. This bag is a perfect gift for the soon-to-be or new father, so be sure to check out Chabee’s website to learn more and keep up to date with them on Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest.

For all of my readers, you can get your own Chabee Outfitters Diaper Bag for 15% off using promo code RCL when you checkout. The code is good until 12/31/15. Help support Jesse’s new company and get something that will last generations at the same time!

I’ll end with a quote from their About Us page explaining the name which I think adds to the uniqueness of this business and one I’m proud to get behind to share with others.

Chabee is a mash up of the words “change” and “be”. The name was formed to encompass the beautiful Gandhi quote “Be the change you want to see in the world.”

Have you heard of or seen Chabee before?

Are you interested in getting a bag for yourself or someone you know?

Disclosure: Chabee provided their bag free of charge in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are strictly my own.

Enter to Win Family Games in this Spin Master Giveaway

Have I’ve got a fun sponsored giveaway opportunity to share with you today! If you’re lacking in the family game night department (don’t worry, we are too), here’s your chance to enter to win a fun family-friendly game package from Spin Master Games.

Kelley, my wonderful wife, and I just returned from a weekend of camping together without Avery. Don’t worry, we didn’t leave her alone, my mom (G-Ma) stayed at our house and had a blast hanging with her granddaughter…..or so we’re told.

Anyway, everyone survived so that’s a plus. The day after returning, we celebrated Kelley’s 31st birthday (Happy Birthday, Dear!) by hanging around home, “fixing” a pipe to our sprinkler system (fingers crossed), I still did squats, and watching Avery eat her feet on the baby monitor instead of taking a nap.

So, we all need time to recoup before I share anything else about the weekend, but in the meantime, I suggest entering to win a fun game package that any family will enjoy to have around. Check out the details below and good luck!

Check out the amazing new Quick Cups video from Spin Master and enter that giveaway for a chance to win 1 of 3 grand games packages including Fibber, Moustache Smash, Boom Boom Balloon, Shark Mania, Rapidoodle, and Quick Cups! Why Puerto Rico Will Have You Saying “It’s Rum Time!”

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Rums of Puerto Rico for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.

Have you ever visited Puerto Rico? I have yet to go, but I do have a really cool uncle from there. That counts for something, right? Until Avery is older, I think we’ll hold off on making that trip. I’ve grown fond of sipping on a quality spirits over the years, and find that rums from Puerto Rico yield that smooth taste I look for in a drink. Probably has something to do with the fact that Puerto Rico has been distilling rum for over 450 years and is the Rum Capital of the world.

If you weren’t aware, 450 years is a long time, and a lot has happened in that time. Thanks to Rums of Puerto Rico and HISTORY.COM partnering to create a new web video series called Rum Times, we can explore world history through the eyes of Puerto Rican rum.

The series plays on the idea that, because Puerto Rico has been distilling this spirit for more than 450 years, Puerto Rican rum has probably been at the celebrations of many historical milestones throughout history. Rum Times imagines behind-the-scenes parties and celebrations of important achievements such as the quest for electric light, the development of motion pictures, and the invention of sports. It’s an exciting way experience Puerto Rico and its unique rum like never before.

There are two episodes available for viewing now, and in the first one, you learn about Thomas Edison’s quest for electric light and what role Nikola Tesla played in helping with this major discovery. I’d bet a good bottle of Puerto Rican rum these two celebrated their findings with a glass of rum from Puerto Rico.

Whether they kept their drinks neat, on the rocks, or made a mojito, I’m not sure, but I know they had a perfect reason to celebrate with this satisfying spirit. I prefer my rum over ice, but if I were to make a cocktail, the mojito would be my first choice. By the way, the mojito was supposedly the drink of choice of Ernest Hemingway, which I’m sure helped with many of his writings.

Did you know that Rum is a by-product of sugar production where sugar cane juice is turned into molasses? Thanks to the sugar cane workers, they realized you can ferment the molasses with water to create this wonderful spirit. Almost two-thirds of the rum in the U.S comes from Puerto Rico which is why it’s known as the Rum Capital of the world. Brands we know and love like Bacardi and Don Q all come from Puerto Rico and are my top choices for rum.

I don’t drink often, so I like to savor quality drinks like Puerto Rican rum when I do. After visiting Rum Times and learning about Puerto Rico’s rich history along with finding cocktail recipes anyone can enjoy, I suggest you head on over yourself and find out why you’ll be saying “It’s Rum Time” in no time! Once you do, please come back and let me know what you think of the site and which Puerto Rican rum you’re going to try first.
