About

I was a mutual fund accountant at a big company for almost 6 years and am now a stay-at-home dad.

Health is of the upmost importance in our family and will make sure that’s reflected on this blog and stressed to Avery. I refuse to eat out unless I have no other option, and even then it will be something minimal. I prefer to prepare my own food so I know exactly what is used. That said, I enjoy this lifestyle and love the food I make. Veggies are awesome, in my eyes, and Brussels sprouts are one of my favorites.

I typically find something to stress over and will hope to change that now that working in an office is over. As a health-minded dad, I depend on exercise to keep me (somewhat) sane and currently have the goal of gaining strength. This is coming from someone who only ran long distance for many years and completed several marathons. I ran Boston, my ultimate goal, and now it’s time for strength.

I’m passionate about raising a happy, healthy family. I’m always trying new food, supplements, nootropics, and products in the health and fitness world and sharing my thoughts here.

I also share any worthy recipes I come across or create as well as fun but challenging workouts.

  1. I’m looking forward to (hopefully) seeing healthy recipes that would work for parents with very little time to spend cooking!! Especially recipes for make-ahead snacks that are good for everyone, babies, toddlers and parents!

  2. Hi I have just stumbled across your blog, not sure how, but I am wishing you every luck with your new career. The hours are rubbish, the pay is terrible but the benefits are out of this world. Oh, and the sleep thing, just go with it, it will happen eventually.

    1. Thank you, Emma, and glad you found my blog! Hope you can enjoy future posts as well. I agree on the credentials of my new career, wouldn’t change it for anything!

  3. Thanks for following my blog. I look forward to hearing more on your daddy adventures. Stay sane…none of us know what the hell we’re doing so let’s figure it out together 🙂

    1. No problem, and thank you for reading! I look forward to reading about your adventures as well! And yes, I agree, anyone who says they know what they’re doing are just fooling themselves!

  4. I stumbled upon your blog while researching baby wearing for dads and I just had to say something. I also am a new father (born st. patty’s day) and he name is also Avery so I just had to reach out. I’ve just recently started into the world of blogging myself but I love your blog so far. Many of the posts are fantastic and I will without a doubt use some of your recipes as my 20’s have not been kind to the waist line and I need to get that back now that I am in my 30’s. I don’t have much written on my blog yet but I write when I get the chance and it’s more because I suddenly found a need to write than it is for money purposes but I would love if you would check it out and let me know your thoughts. Look forward to hearing more!

    1. Hi Dan,

Glad you were able to find my blog, and love that you’re a fellow babywearing dad! Late congrats on your first, and that’s pretty cool his name is Avery. We knew it was a name that is suitable for a boy or girl and love that not too many people use it.

I checked out your blog and like it’s setup. Really interested in seeing some of the clothing you have to offer too.

Hopefully you can put the recipes to good use and get back to where you want to be. If you ever have any questions, please feel free to contact me and ask away!

  6. Glad to find another person who would rather eat at home and cares so much about health! I found you through WIAW and it was fun to see a male’s perspective

    1. Right back at ya! It’s crazy how few people actually take the time to put more thought into their food and overall health. You can go anywhere in public and see, physically, how so many pay no attention to what matters most! Glad you found my site and enjoy it. Thanks for commenting and hope to see you around again!

    1. Hey, thank you, Vicky! I agree with you about how cooking is calming, but then they washing dishes gets you all worked up again. It’s a daily thing! Thanks again, I’m happy you enjoy my blog enough to nominate me!

  7. Good Afternoon,

As a mother with two teenage daughters, I commonly find myself referencing the information on Going Dad. I wanted to give you a quick shout and let you know that I appreciate all of the great information and tools you have provided me to acting as a responsible parent to my children. I shared your website link with my group of Moms on my facebook page, who I know will find value in your site.

I wanted to also share a resource with you that helps parents overcome the often overlooked and avoided initiation of coversation regarding texting and driving. I came across this information last week, and used some of the information to talk to my two daughters, Chloe and Stephanie. The page has a ton of great information on approaches to take, and was extremely easy to read. Heres where I found it: scottgottlieblaw.com/talk-to-teens-about-distracted-driving

I wanted to see if you could take a look, and see what you thought. Could you let me know? Maybe this is something you could also share with your audience?

    Thank you,

    Donna Fitzgerald

    1. Hi Donna,

Thank you for the kind words and sharing my site with your group, I’m so glad you find my site resourceful! This really does help to keep me motivated on those days I simply don’t want to do anything.

I have a while before worrying about my own daughter driving, but you’re right to be concerned about driving distractions as it affects everyone in the car and those around them. I’ll make sure to check out the link you gave and would love to share on my blog in the near future. Thanks for the info and hope you continue to enjoy my content. Please feel free to reach out to me at any time!

  10. Hey R.C., sure appreciate your reference to Punderdome, A Card Game for Pun Lovers! If you’re ever in NYC the first Tuesday of the month, please come see our show – would be our pleasure to buy you a beverage of your choice! All the best.

    1. Hi Fred, no problem at all. Thank YOU for having such an awesome card game! I seriously wish I made it up to NYC, but have never been even once. I’ll make sure to find you if I ever do make it up there. I’d be happy to accept your game, Punderdome, instead of the drink though. 🙂 I’d happily write a post specifically about the game to share with all of the other pun-loving parents out there!

  11. Hi there! 🙂 Gary from Skipah’s Realm sent me over here as I was asking readers to shout out some of their favourite bloggers the other day 🙂 Gary did a big shout out to you and he also wants you to know that “Peanut Butter Rocks!” lol I am glad he sent me your way and I look forward to reading more 🙂 Cheers!

    1. Hello, thanks for stopping by per Gary’s recommendation! He’s a great guy, and while I absolutely agree that peanut butter rocks, he should know that JIF does not count as peanut butter! It might have peanuts, but then there’s other crap I’d never want added. Anyway, I’ll stop myself now. 🙂

Hope you come back again and that you enjoy my posts!

  12. Thanks for stopping by my blog and liking my post on Hostess Ho Ho’s and sharing your thoughts on it. I am very impressed with what you are doing with your health efforts – and you started significantly earlier than i did. Great job!
